He studied at Sahkar Vidya Prasarak Mandal Secondary School in Kalwa and later completed a degree in Commercial Arts from L.S. Raheja School of Art in Bandra. Kelkar has said he originally aspired to work as an art director and spent time working as an assistant art director in the Marathi film industry before moving into acting.
Career
Kelkar made his television debut in the Marathi serial Be Dune Daha in 2013, appearing as Kabir. Beyond regional television and film, Kelkar expanded into Hindi television. He played the lead in the Colors TV serial Nima Denzongpa, which ran from August 2021 to September 2022. During that show he continued with the production after a narrative leap and portrayed a character older than his actual years, a choice he described as a professional challenge and an opportunity to do justice to the role.
Kelkar has also appeared on episodic Hindi programming such as Crime Patrol and has been featured in television commercials for brands including Raj Masala and a Zee Marathi matrimonial service. He has discussed facing casting setbacks early in his career—at times being told he looked too young for lead roles in Marathi shows—but has expressed gratitude for opportunities Hindi television provided in reaching wider audiences.
