Akshay Kumar was born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on 9 September 1967 in Delhi, India. Raised in a Punjabi family, he spent his early years in Old Delhi before later living in Mumbai. He attended Don Bosco High School in Darjeeling and enrolled at Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Mumbai, though he did not complete a degree. From a young age he trained in martial arts, studying Taekwondo to black belt level and later learning Muay Thai in Bangkok.
