Early life and background

Anubhav Singh Bassi was born on 9 January 1991 in Parikshitgarh, a small town in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a lower-middle-class household, he completed his schooling at Dewan Public School in Meerut before moving to Lucknow to study at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University. He finished his BA LLB in 2015. Before turning to entertainment full time, Bassi explored other paths including preparation for the UPSC exam and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Career

Bassi began performing stand-up in 2017, taking the stage at open-mic events. His observational and story-driven material gained traction quickly, and he expanded from small venues to larger stages and tours. Over time he has performed in more than 35 cities across India, bringing his live show to audiences nationwide.

Alongside live performance, Bassi built a substantial online following. His YouTube channel has accumulated hundreds of millions of views and millions of subscribers, while his social media presence helped solidify him as a mainstream comedy figure. This digital success opened doors into other formats.

On screen, Bassi contributed to Amazon Funnies with comic monologues and appeared in a cameo role in the ZEE5 series Comedy Couple. In 2023 he made his Bollywood debut in the film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, which released in March 2023 and featured established actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

In February 2023 he released his first full-length stand-up special, Bas Kar Bassi, on Amazon Prime Video, bringing his stage material to a wider streaming audience.
