Aparna Krishnan was born in 1990 in Kochi, Kerala. She grew up in a family with a father who served in the Indian Navy and a mother who worked at the State Bank of India. Aparna has an elder sister, Prasanna Krishnan.

Her schooling took place in Kochi, where she attended Naval Public School and Chinmaya Vidyalaya. She later received an International Baccalaureate diploma at Pearson College UWC in Canada on a scholarship. For higher education she studied economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science and at Dartmouth College in the United States, completing her undergraduate degree in 2012.

Aparna’s early professional experience included internships as a summer analyst at Goldman Sachs and at Roc Capital Management. Soon after graduating in 2012 she joined McKinsey & Company in Bangalore as a business analyst.

In 2014 she moved into venture investing with a role as an investment analyst at Sequoia Capital, where she worked for nearly a year. By late 2015 Aparna took a leadership position at Craftsvilla in Mumbai as an assistant vice-president. After around eighteen months there she joined Soroco India Private Limited in Bengaluru, where she has worked as an engagement manager.

Aparna is best known publicly through her marriage to Rohan Murty, the founder of the Murty Classical Library of India and the son of Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy.
