Bipasha Basu was born on 7 January 1979 in New Delhi and spent her early childhood there before her family moved to Kolkata when she was about eight. She completed much of her schooling in West Bengal and later attended Bhawanipur Education Society College in Kolkata, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce.
