Early life and backgroundDanny Ramirez was born on September 17, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in a family with Mexican and Colombian heritage. His mother relocated with him and his sisters to Miami when he was seven, and he completed his primary and secondary education there. Ramirez spent his school years in athletics, playing both American football and soccer at Miami Coral Park Senior High School. He later attended Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, where he played on the men’s soccer team before turning his focus toward the arts.
An early experience on a film set helped change his trajectory. While recovering from a soccer injury, Ramirez worked as a background soccer player on the production of The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Observing performers on set — particularly Riz Ahmed — inspired him to pursue acting. He moved to New York, did modelling work, and enrolled in courses before earning admission to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, from which he graduated in 2018.
