Early life and background

Devraj Patel was born in 2001 in Mahasamund district in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. His family is from the village of Daab Pali, where they continued to reside while Devraj pursued his interests away from home. His father, Ghanshyam Patel, worked as an agriculturist and his mother, Gauri Patel, was a homemaker. He had at least two siblings: a brother named Hemant Patel and a sister whose name has not been publicly recorded in the available information.

During his late teens and early twenties Devraj was studying toward a college degree; at one point in 2021 he was reported to be living and studying in Korba. He later moved to Raipur to focus on creating digital content and was living in rented accommodation in the Avanti Vihar area of Raipur City.

Career

Devraj launched his official YouTube channel, titled “Dil Se Bura Lagta Hai – Devraj Patel Official,” in 2020. He produced short videos, memes and reels that blended humour with personal reflection. One short clip he posted in 2021 — centered on the line “dil se bura lagta hai” — struck a chord online and became a viral moment that significantly raised his profile.

His channel grew rapidly; by 2023 it had surpassed 100,000 subscribers and earned the YouTube Silver Play Button, and reports indicated the subscriber count had climbed into the hundreds of thousands. Devraj made a variety of content and was described as both a YouTuber and a comedian. He also appeared in a web series, credited as Dhindora in 2021.

Devraj’s work often responded directly to his experiences online. He faced trolling and body‑shaming related to his shorter stature and weight, and some of his best‑known material addressed those responses head‑on. His candid videos about bullying and the emotions behind his viral dialogue helped create a strong connection with viewers who related to or supported his perspective.

Public profile

Devraj became widely recognised across India for his catchphrase and his comedic persona. He received public attention beyond typical social‑media circles: in 2022 he filmed a short about education at Atmanand School and met the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel. A lighthearted exchange from that encounter — in which Devraj jokingly suggested there were two famous people in the state, himself and “Mor Kaka” referring to the chief minister — was widely shared online and later reposted by the chief minister as a tribute following Devraj’s death.

Fans remembered Devraj for his humour and for the phrase that became synonymous with him. His channel attracted sustained engagement from followers who circulated his memes and short videos across platforms.

Personal details

Physically, Devraj was described as approximately 161 cm tall (about 5 ft 3 in) and weighing roughly 80 kg. His eye colour was recorded as dark brown and his hair as black. He was unmarried at the time of his death and reported to be a non‑vegetarian. Favourite foods and entertainers noted in available material included chicken chilli, chow mein, donuts, actor Akshay Kumar, actress Priyanka Chopra, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL team.

Death

Devraj Patel died on 26 June 2023 at the age of 22 following a road accident near Raipur. The incident occurred while he and a friend were returning by motorcycle after filming a video. A truck travelling in the same direction collided with the motorcycle; Devraj sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. The truck driver was subsequently apprehended and charged in connection with the accident.
