During that period his parents studied and worked in India, first relocating to Varanasi and later spending time in Bihar, where his father developed an interest in Madhubani painting. Hicks learned Hindi and Bhojpuri while living in India and became fluent in both languages.

He later returned to the United States to continue his education and graduated from St. Petersburg College in Florida. Travel and cultural exchange are recurring themes in his personal story; he has described multiple Indian locations as favorites, including Kedarnath, Jaisalmer, Goa, and Delhi.

Career
Drew Hicks builds his public profile as a YouTuber and online content creator. After finishing his formal education he moved to Thailand and worked for an online organization. He began making videos part time while sharing experiences from his travels across India and the United States. In 2019 he collaborated with fellow creator Yachen (Yechan) Lee, producing videos for both creators’ channels. In 2022 he and Yechan Lee launched a Hindi podcast together.

Hicks’s ability to speak Hindi and Bhojpuri with fluency brought him wider attention in 2023, when one of his Hindi-speaking videos went viral on social media. He has produced videos showcasing his travel experiences, teaching moments—such as videos documenting him teaching his wife Hindi—and cultural observations, including food-related content and reactions to price differences between India and the U.S.

Public profile
