Early life and backgroundFarhan Saeed Butt was born on 14 September 1984 in Model Town, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Raised in a Punjabi Kashmiri family, he attended Crescent High School and later studied at The Keynesian Institute of Management and Sciences and the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in Lahore, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. His parents are Rahat Saeed Butt and Ghazala Rahat, and he has two brothers, Dr Haroon Saeed and Dr Salman Saeed.
Career
Farhan began his professional music career when he joined the band Jal as a vocalist after Atif Aslam's departure. With Jal he contributed to the band’s early albums, including Aadat (2004) and subsequent releases such as Lamhay and Boondh. After about a decade with the group, he announced his departure in September 2011 to pursue a solo career.
As a solo artist and songwriter, Farhan has released a number of well-known Pakistani songs over the years, among them Khuwahishon (2011), Roiyaan (2014), Haari Haari (2018) and Piyaar Sufiyana (2021). He has also been involved in playback singing for Hindi films, lending his voice to tracks such as Naam-e-Wafa from Creature 3D (2014), Bhool Na Jaana from Main Aur Mr. Riight and Thodi Der from Half Girlfriend (2017).
