Early life and backgroundManeesha Kandan Subramaniam was born on 12 October and raised in Perambra, a town in the Thrissur district. She studied at St. Augustine's Girls Higher Secondary School in Muvattupuzha and completed pre-degree coursework at Marthoma College for Women in Perumbavoor before attending Vimala College in Thrissur. Music was a formative influence: she studied under teachers Ananthapadmanabhan and Araikal Nandakumar.
Career
Maneesha's professional life spans radio, music and acting. In the early 1990s she began singing, working with Malayali artists including East Coast Vijayan and K. P. K. Vengara. After moving to Dubai she worked for more than a decade as a radio jockey and later helped establish Asianet Radio, a Malayali station in the city.
On returning to India, Maneesha joined All India Radio in Thrissur. Her broadcast work earned her B-grade recognition from the station in the Lalitha Gana category and a B grade in drama dubbing. As a playback singer she has sung for films such as Kana Kanmani (2009) and Pulliman (2010), and she has performed on stage alongside noted South Indian vocalists including P. Jayachandran and S. P.
