Manuraj Singh Rajput Biography

Manuraj Singh Rajput is an Indian flautist, classical musician and composer from Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Trained under Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia at a guruk

Early life and background

Manuraj Singh Rajput hails from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. He grew up in a musical environment: his mother encouraged him to learn harmonium and sing bhajans at local temples from a young age. His first teacher taught and played in temple settings in Bharatpur, and that early exposure to devotional music made a lasting impression.

After school he enrolled in engineering studies in Jaipur but moved away from regular college attendance to pursue music. He began formal flute tuition with teachers in Delhi and later travelled long distances to study with senior masters. Manuraj has described a period of financial and personal struggle while choosing the flute over an engineering path; friends from college helped him during that time.

Manuraj belongs to the Maihar gharana and lists Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia as his principal guru. He travelled from Bharatpur to Mumbai to seek admission to Chaurasia’s gurukul and trained in the gurukul system from 2011 to 2015, including a six-month placement in an Odisha gurukul as part of his training.

Career

Manuraj is a classically trained flautist who performs and composes across classical, semi-classical, light, folk and Western idioms. He made his first notable television appearance on the reality show Dil Hai Hindustani Season 2 in 2018, where he reached the top eight finalists. He later appeared on India’s Got Talent in 2022 with teammate Divyansh Kacholia, and the pair were declared winners of the show in April 2022.

On India’s Got Talent the duo earned a prize that included a car and a cash award of Rs 20 lakh. Their performances and visibility on the show led to other opportunities, including a chance to compose a theme with filmmaker Rohit Shetty for the film Cirkus.

Manuraj’s performance career extends beyond television. He has given numerous flute recitals on international stages, including performances at universities and festivals in the United States, as well as concerts across Canada, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, China, Indonesia and elsewhere. He has also performed alongside his guru, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, at live concerts and stage events.

As a session and collaborative musician, Manuraj has contributed flute work for well-known Indian vocalists and entertainment programs. His credits include working with singers such as Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam and Richa Sharma, and he has appeared as a flautist on televised entertainment programming including The Kapil Sharma Show.

Public profile

Manuraj is active on social media and maintains a public presence through platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. His training, performances and association with a widely respected teacher have earned him coverage in Indian newspapers and magazines.

Personal life

Manuraj was born on 19 February; his precise year of birth is not provided in the available information. He is from a family in Bharatpur: his father is Ram Sevak and his mother is Shushila Tomar. He has two sisters and is unmarried. He studied at Rajasthan Technical University at an engineering college for a brief period but did not complete the degree, having shifted focus to music.
