Early life and background

Mohan Juneja was born in 1967 in Tumkur, Karnataka. Raised in a family where his father worked as a civil engineer for the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Juneja spent his formative years in Bengaluru, where he also completed higher studies. From childhood he was drawn to films and the performing arts, reportedly watching multiple movies a day and developing a fascination with acting that led him into theatre during his school and college years.

At his father’s encouragement to pursue engineering, Juneja acknowledged he struggled academically and instead followed his passion for the stage. He later enrolled in a drama school to deepen his understanding of theatre; there he also learned makeup techniques that would serve him in his acting career.

Juneja made his film debut in the Kannada movie Wall Poster in 1989 and went on to appear in more than a hundred films across several Indian languages. While he worked predominantly in Kannada and Telugu cinema, his filmography also includes roles in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam productions. He was known for his versatility, taking on both comic and antagonist parts.

On television, Juneja achieved widespread recognition for his role as Parandhama in the serial Vitara, created by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. The show ran for over a thousand episodes and helped establish him as a familiar face in many households.
