Mumaith Khan (Actress) Biography

Early life and backgroundMumaith Khan was born Mumait Abdul Rashid Khan on 1 September 1985 in Mumbai and was raised in a Pathan family. Her father, Abdul Rashid Khan, originally came from Pakistan while her mother, Hasina Khan, is from Chennai. She grew up in a financially constrained household alongside two elder sisters, one of whom is Zabyn Khan.
From an early age Mumaith was drawn to dance. Her family’s limited means meant she began working young: her first paid work as a background dancer earned her a modest sum. A college event in which her sister participated led to both sisters joining a dance group, and that early experience opened the door to the entertainment industry.
Physical details and style
Mumaith is known for an edgy, distinctive look that includes multiple tattoos and body piercings. Her listed physical measurements include a height of approximately 163 cm (5'4") and a weight around 65 kg (143 lbs). Her hair is black and her eyes are dark brown. Her tattoos and piercings — including eyebrow, navel, lip and tongue piercings — have been a recurring talking point in interviews and profiles.
Career
Mumaith’s mainstream acting career began in the early 2000s. She made appearances across many Indian film industries: her Tamil debut was Majunu (2001), she entered Hindi cinema with Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? (2002), and she appeared in the Telugu film Swamy (2004). Over the years she has worked in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali and Odia productions, including Kannada debut Orata (2007), Odia film Love Dot Com (2012) and Bengali title Jole Jongole (2018).
She rose to wider notice for a cameo as the hospital dancer Reena in the popular Hindi film Munna Bhai MBBS (2003). By 2017 she had accumulated a substantial body of work across languages, with around 40 Telugu films, more than 20 Hindi films, 16 Tamil films and several Kannada projects to her credit.
Beyond films, Mumaith has taken part in reality television. She appeared on the dance competition Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6 in 2013 as part of a Teen Ka Tadka week and later competed on Telugu reality formats such as Super 2. She was also a contestant on Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1 and later entered Bigg Boss Non-Stop OTT (Telugu) in 2022, initially eliminated in the first eviction and then re-entering as a wild-card.
Public profile
Throughout her career Mumaith has been candid in interviews about her upbringing, ambitions and work ethic. She has described herself as self-reliant and has spoken about how dance and performance provided an escape from her early circumstances. Health and incidents
In 2015 Mumaith suffered a severe head injury that resulted in a 15-day coma. Following surgery, which involved the placement of titanium wires, doctors advised an extended period of rest and warned of possible long-term effects. She recovered and continued to participate in television and public events thereafter.
Controversies and legal matters
Various incidents have appeared in press coverage over the years. In 2008 she cancelled a Hyderabad performance after being splashed with beer by attendees. In 2020 she filed a police complaint against a cab driver alleging harassment and false accusation over payment. While appearing on Bigg Boss Telugu she was asked by enforcement authorities to attend an investigation connected to a money laundering and drug inquiry; she later received a clean chit in that matter in 2017.
