The company began the Vikram series in 2020 and worked with partners such as Bellatrix Aerospace on orbital transfer integration. On 18 November 2022 Skyroot successfully launched Vikram-S from Sriharikota, marking the first rocket launch by a private Indian company. The Vikram family includes single-stage suborbital and multiple small-lift orbital designs intended to be rapidly assembled and launched with minimal range infrastructure.
During Bharath's time at Skyroot the company secured multiple funding rounds and partnerships. Skyroot signed a memorandum with Dhruva Space in November 2020, raised $11 million in a Series A round in May 2021, and completed a Series B round that included Sherpalo Ventures and other investors in January 2022. In September 2021 Skyroot became the first Indian start-up to gain access to ISRO facilities and expertise under an agreement with the Department of Space.
