Naresh Vijaya Krishna was born on 20 January 1963 in Chennai, India. He grew up in Chennai and attended local schools including Sri Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School, Hindu Higher Secondary School and Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan. He completed education up to the 10th standard. He is the son of actor-producer Krishna Murthy and actress-director-producer Vijaya Nirmala, and part of a large film family that includes step-siblings Ramesh Babu and Mahesh Babu, and step-sisters Manjula, Padmavathi and Priyadarshini.

Career

Naresh began acting as a child and made his film debut as a child actor in the Telugu film Rendu Kutumbala Katha (1970). He transitioned to lead roles in the early 1980s with films such as Naalugu Stambhalata (1982) in Telugu and Nenjathai Allitha (1984) in Tamil. His body of work spans Telugu and Tamil cinema, with notable Telugu roles in Sogasu Chuda Taramaa? (1985), Hai Hai Nayaka (1989), Chitram! Bhalare Vichitram!! (1991) and Sri Krishnarjuna Vijayam (1996), among others.

Across decades he has taken a mix of lead and character roles, appearing in films like Rendu Jella Sita (1983), Sri Kanakamalaxmi Recording Dance Troupe (1987), Kokila (1990), Jamba Lakidi Pamba (1993), Aame (1994), I Love You (2002), Drushyam (2014) and Shatamanam Bhavati (2017). He has also acted in Tamil productions including Porutham (1985), Malini 22 Palayamkottai (2013), Nee Enge En Anbe (2014) and Sandamarutham (2015).

On television he appeared in Doordarshan’s Munimanikyam Gari Kantham Kadhalu (1991) and later in shows such as Popula Petti (1996), Amrutham (2002), Maa Nanna (2012) and Mahalakshmi Nivasam (2013).
