Natalie Di Luccio Biography

Canadian-born soprano Natalie Di Luccio built a cross-cultural singing career that spans Western classical training and popular Indian music. Known for her

Early life and background

Natalie Di Luccio was born on 29 June 1989 in Toronto, Canada. Raised in a musical household, she began formal music lessons at a very young age after her mother recognized her voice. She attended Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts in Toronto and later earned a degree in Western classical voice (opera) from McGill University. That classical training laid the groundwork for a voice capable of both operatic repertoire and contemporary song.

Career

Di Luccio started performing publicly as a child, singing in churches and at weddings, and by her early teens was taking part in auditions and musical competitions. While still in college she recorded Sanskrit chants that led to early involvement with Indian music projects. Her professional break into Indian popular music came after she contributed to projects associated with established Indian composers and artists.

In 2010 she began posting covers of Hindi songs to YouTube. A video of her singing a Bollywood song attracted widespread attention and millions of views, prompting her to upload more Hindi-language material. One of her covers was noticed by composer A. R. Rahman, which led to invitations to perform alongside him in concerts in India and abroad. Her work with Indian artists has included performances on Coke Studio and collaborations with singers such as Amit Trivedi and Shriram Iyer.

Di Luccio has contributed her voice to film soundtracks and background scores for Indian films, and has sung in several Indian languages. Her credits include a Marathi song featured in the film English-Vinglish and other regional recordings. She has also worked with international producers, including Italian music producer Mauro Malavasi.

Beyond recording and live concerts, Di Luccio has appeared on television. She participated in the reality series Life Mein Ek Baar Season 4 in 2015, and she took part in a travel series called Nexa Journeys on the Asian Highway 1 for Discovery India in 2017. In addition, she delivered a talk about her musical journey at TEDxGateway Mumbai in May 2015.

Public profile

Di Luccio is often described in media as a soprano who bridges Western classical technique and South Asian popular music — a crossover artist who brought operatic sensibilities to Hindi repertoire. She has sung national anthems at notable public events, including Canada Day celebrations in India and the Pro Kabaddi tournament in 2016. She has also been approached for mainstream Indian television opportunities in the past, though she has declined some offers to remain focused on music.

Her stage and studio work has included collaborations with prominent Indian figures, and she has appeared on platform-based music programs that showcase fusion and contemporary arrangements. Di Luccio is known to enjoy travel, cinema and swimming, and she has expressed a long-term ambition to perform in Tuscany.

Personal life

Natalie Di Luccio holds Canadian nationality and was raised in Toronto. She is married to Raghu Ram; the two wed on 12 December 2018 in Goa. Her parents are Domenic and Melanie Di Luccio, and she has a brother named Mike. She follows Christianity and is a non-vegetarian. Di Luccio is also an animal lover and has stated a fondness for dogs.

Latest updates

Recent highlights in her career include live collaborations with A. R. Rahman, television appearances, and participation in travel programming. She continues to record across languages and perform in concert settings, maintaining a profile that connects classical vocal technique with contemporary and regional song traditions.

Physical profile and preferences

Di Luccio's public biographical details list her height as approximately 170 cm (5'7") and weight around 60 kg (132 lbs). She has hazel green eyes and dark brown hair. She began performing publicly at a very young age and has a musical-note tattoo on her forearm.
