Early life and backgroundNayani Dixit was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and grew up with an early passion for performance. She began acting in plays as a child and went on to complete a BA in Hindi Literature and Psychology from P.P.N. College at Kanpur University. Following this, she pursued formal training in acting with a post-graduate program at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
Her father, Vijay Dixit, is associated with theatre. She has an elder sister, Kavya Karthik. Raised in a family connected to the stage, Nayani also developed a parallel interest in dance and trained in Kathak belonging to the Lucknow gharana.
Career
Nayani started her screen career with television, making an early appearance in the Sony Entertainment Television series Rishta.com (2010) as Ragini Deshmukh. She transitioned to films with a debut role in Delhi Belly (2011) and followed with supporting parts in projects such as Special 26 (2013), Guddu Ki Gun (2015) and BHK [email protected] (2016).
She gained wider recognition for her supporting role as Sonal in the film Queen (2014). Her performance as Abha, the sister of the lead character in Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017), was especially well received and brought her appreciable audience attention.
On television she has appeared in period drama Siyaasat on Epic TV, portraying Jagat Gosaini, and has performed in episodic roles on series including Aahat, CID and Savdhaan India.
