Early life and background
Neeraj Madhav was born on 26 March 1990 in Thiruvannur, Calicut (Kozhikode), Kerala. Raised in a family with roots in the region, he attended St. Joseph's Boys Higher Secondary School in Calicut before moving to Chennai for higher studies. He studied at SRM Institute of Science and Technology and later completed postgraduate studies in theatre at the School of Drama and Fine Arts in Thrissur.

His father, Dr. K. Madhavan, worked as a veterinarian and his mother, Latha, was a teacher. He has a younger brother, Navneeth, who is also active in performing arts as an actor and dancer. Neeraj trained in classical dance—Bharatanatyam—under Kalamandalam Saraswathy and her daughter Aswathy, and he also learned the percussion instrument chenda under Kalanilayam Udayan Namboodiri.

Career
Neeraj made his film debut in 2013 in the Malayalam movie Buddy, playing the character Govindh. Over the next several years he appeared in a number of Malayalam films, including titles such as Drishyam (2013), 1983 (2014), Sapthamashree Thaskaraha (2014), Oru Vadakkan Selfie (2015) and Adi Kapyare Kootamani (2015).

In addition to acting, Neeraj has worked behind the camera: he choreographed the song “Enne thallendammava” in Oru Vadakkan Selfie (2015) and took on screenwriting duties for the Malayalam film Lavakusha (2017).
