Nidhi Uttam was born on 14 December in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. She grew up in Kanpur and attended St. Mary’s Convent School there. During her school years she learned martial arts, and later pursued a diploma in graphic design after moving to Mumbai in 2007.

Uttam began working in television the same year she moved to Mumbai. While studying for her graphic design diploma, she was offered a role in the Zee TV serial Maayka, which marked her television debut. Over the years she has appeared in a string of Hindi TV serials, including Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kasturi, Ek Boond Ishq and Karam Apna Apna.
