Nikhil Arya was born on 17 December 1986 and grew up in Pune, Maharashtra. He attended Loyola High School & Junior College in Pune and went on to complete postgraduate studies. Arya comes from a family headed by his father, Shriprakash Sakhrani, a businessman, and his mother, Rekha Sakhrani. He has an elder sister who works as a dentist and is settled in the United States.

Following that period he continued to take on television projects, appearing in Haiwaan: The Monster (2019) as Govind Garewal, and in Brahmarakshas 2 – Phir Jaag Utha Shaitaan (2020) as Prithvi. In 2023 he was cast in the Colors TV show Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal.
