Early life and backgroundNikita Singh was born on 6 October 1991 in Patna, Bihar. Her family moved frequently during her childhood, and she spent time living in Patna, Ranchi and Indore. She attended Bridgeford School in Ranchi before completing a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at the Acropolis Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Indore. Later she pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at The New York School in New York City.

Singh began writing while she was still in college and published her first novella, Love @ Facebook, in 2011 at the age of 19. That debut was followed by a string of contemporary romance books; among her better-known works are If It's Not Forever It's Not Love, Someone Like You, Like a Love Song, Every Time It Rains and Letters To My Ex. She co-authored two novels, Someone Like You and If It's Not Forever It's Not Love, with Durjoy Datta.
