Career

Nitish developed as a batting all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium-fast. He first appeared in representative cricket for Andhra at Under-14 level, playing in the 2015–2016 South Zone Inter State Under-14 Tournament where he finished the competition with notable innings, including a top score of 76 in an opening match.

Progressing through the age groups, Nitish had a breakthrough at Under-16 level during the 2017–2018 Vijay Merchant Trophy. Across seven matches in that campaign he compiled an extraordinary tally of runs and wickets, finishing as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with multiple centuries and contributing heavily with the ball, including two five-wicket hauls and 26 wickets overall.

His performances at state level led to selection for India’s Under-19 sides. In 2018 he was named to India Under-19 B for a Quadrangular tournament and later featured for India Under-19 Green in the Under-19 Challenger Trophy, where he contributed both runs and wickets and helped his side lift the trophy. He also played for India Under-19 A during the 2019–2020 Under-19 Challenger Trophy, finishing that competition among the higher wicket-takers.

At domestic senior level, Nitish was added to the Andhra Ranji Trophy squad and made his first-class debut in January 2020 against Kerala, scoring runs and claiming his first Ranji wicket in that match. In T20 domestic cricket, he made his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy debut in November 2021, producing useful batting and bowling displays during the tournament. Across the 2022–2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy he contributed both with bat and ball, recording a half-century and a three-wicket haul in group matches and finishing the season with runs and wickets to his name. In the 2022–2023 Ranji Trophy he recorded a four-wicket haul, including several maiden overs, against Tamil Nadu.

Nitish has also been involved with Indian Premier League franchises in supporting roles. He was named as a net bowler for Chennai Super Kings in September 2021 and later trained with the team in Dubai. Ahead of the 2023 IPL season he was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad at his base price and has been listed with jersey number 8 while associated with the franchise.
