Pankhuri Shrivastava was born on 17 August 1989 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. She grew up in Jhansi and completed her schooling at St. Francis Inter College there. She earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Rajiv Gandhi Technological University, Bhopal, graduating in the period from 2007 to 2011. Her family included her father, Rajneesh Srivastava, a bank manager; her mother, Preeti Srivastava, a doctor; and a brother, Pranay Shrivastava, who later served as Chief Strategy Officer at Pankhuri.

Career

After university, Pankhuri chose to spend two years working with Teach For India in Mumbai rather than immediately following the campus placement roles she had secured. Early in her public life she won the Miss Jhansi title in 2011.

In September 2012 she co‑founded Grabhouse, a Mumbai-based platform focused on rental listings without brokerage. Grabhouse was acquired by Quickr in 2016, and Pankhuri subsequently worked with Quickr in Bengaluru as Assistant Vice President of Marketing for about a year and a half.

In March 2018 she joined ZestMoney, a Bangalore buy-now-pay-later company, as a marketing strategy consultant. In September 2019 she launched Pankhuri, an online platform designed primarily for women to join internet-based clubs and socialize. For that project she raised funding through Surge, the accelerator program run by Sequoia Capital; the program supported her with approximately $3.2 million.
