Early life and backgroundPradeep Uppoor was born on 18 July 1958 in Mumbai. He studied at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. Uppoor spent his life and career based out of his hometown of Mumbai.
Career
Uppoor began his involvement in the Indian film industry in the early 1980s. His first credited film work dates to 1981 with the movie Chakra. Over the next several years he produced a string of films including Ardh Satya (1983), Holi (1984), Hip Hip Hurray (1984), and Aghaat (1985).
Beyond feature films, Uppoor moved into television and production work that spanned commercials, documentaries and other audio-visual projects under the Neo Films banner. He was a co-founder of Fireworks Productions, a company that became widely known for the long-running investigative police drama C.I.D., which began in the 1990s.
His television producing credits include C.I.D., Achanak 37 Saal Baad (2002), Raat Hone Ko Hai (2004), Satrangi Sasural (2014–2016) and Laut Aao Trisha (2014). He also wrote the television series Supercops V/S Supervillains in 2012. Uppoor’s last listed film credit was the 2021 release Nail Polish.
