Pragya Jaiswal was born on 24 June 1988 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Raised in a family that includes her mother Surekha Jaiswal and a sister, Pranjul Jaiswal, she completed her schooling and later earned a degree in law from Symbiosis International University, Pune, where she attended Symbiosis Law School. During her time in Pune she began modelling on the side, which gradually led her toward a career in the entertainment industry rather than the legal profession she initially trained for.

Pragya made her screen debut in 2014 with multiple regional projects. That year she appeared in the Tamil film Virattu (also released in a Telugu version titled Dega) and made her Bollywood debut with Titoo MBA.
