He is a Hindi-speaking Indian national from the Vokkaliga community and was raised in the region that would later form his political base. He completed a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Mangalore University in 1999.

Career

Simha began his professional life in journalism. In 1999 he joined the Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka as a trainee and rose through the ranks to become a chief editorial writer. He wrote a widely read column called Bettale Jagattu (The naked world), and his work in print earned recognition, including the Aryabhata Award for column writing in 2008.

Transitioning to politics, Simha joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
