Early life and backgroundRaadhika Sarathkumar was born on 21 August 1963 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and is identified as Indian by nationality with roots in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She attended Good Shepherd Convent in Chennai during her schooling years. Her father was the actor and politician Madras Rajagopalan Radhakrishnan. Raadhika spent parts of her youth outside India, including periods in Colombo and London, as her family navigated difficult circumstances following her father's legal troubles.
Career
Raadhika began her screen career in the late 1970s, debuting in Malayalam cinema in 1977 and making early appearances across South Indian film industries. Her Tamil breakthrough came in 1978, while she moved into Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films in subsequent years. Over the 1980s she established herself as a prominent leading actress, appearing in more than 120 Telugu films between 1981 and 1989 and taking roles across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi cinema through later decades.
Beyond acting, Raadhika built a significant presence behind the camera. She founded Radaan Mediaworks in Chennai in 1998 as a proprietary business and converted it into a corporate entity in 1999.
