Early life and background

Rajisha Vijayan was born on 15 July 1991 in Perambra, Kozhikode, Kerala. Raised by a father who served in the Army and a mother who worked as a school teacher, she grew up taking part in performing arts during her school years. Rajisha attended multiple schools and went on to graduate from Amity University, Delhi, with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. She is trained in Indian classical dance and lists reading, travelling, theatre, dancing and athletics among her interests.

Career

Rajisha began her professional life in front of the camera as a model at age 21 and soon moved into television. She worked as a video jockey and television host on Malayalam channels, appearing on shows such as Susi's Code and Surya Challenge and hosting the talent show Ugram Ujwalam on Mazhavil Manorama. Her anchoring work brought her recognition and opened the door to film offers within months of starting in television.

She made her film debut in 2016 with the Malayalam movie Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, playing the character Elizabeth (Eli). She made her Tamil film debut in 2020 with Karnan, in which she played Draupathai opposite lead actor Dhanush, and played a pivotal role as a teacher named Mythra in the 2021 courtroom drama Jai Bhim. In 2022 she was set to make her Telugu debut with Ramarao On Duty.

Throughout her career Rajisha has won several awards recognizing both breakthrough and supporting performances, including honours at the Asia Vision Awards, Asianet Film Awards, Vanitha Film Awards, IIFA Utsavam, and the Ramu Kariat award. Her awards span recognition for her debut performance as well as later supporting and character roles.
