XXXTentacion Biography
Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, known professionally as XXXTentacion, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who rose from SoundCloud beginnings to national,
Early life and backgroundJahseh Dwayne Onfroy was born on January 23, 1998, in Plantation, Florida, and grew up in Lauderhill, Florida. He spent portions of his childhood living with his grandmother after being expelled from the family home as a teenager. Onfroy left formal schooling in the 10th grade and did not attend college.
From a young age he showed a strong interest in music. His mother enrolled him in choir, but Onfroy struggled in that setting and later described an uncomfortable fit with formal lessons. He also had a turbulent youth that included fights and encounters with the juvenile justice system; during his adolescent years he served time in detention, an experience that shaped part of his social circle and creative path.
Career
Onfroy began sharing music on SoundCloud in 2014, uploading his debut track "Vice City." He quickly connected with other rising artists in the underground hip-hop scene. While in jail he met the rapper Ski Mask the Slump God; after their releases they, along with Wifisfuneral and Craig Xen, became members of the collective Members Only. Collaborations within that group helped him build an early fanbase.
Between 2015 and 2017 he released a series of projects and singles that brought greater attention. In 2015 he contributed to Members Only Vol. 1 and Members Only Vol. 2 with Ski Mask the Slump God. His 2016 track "Look at Me" became a breakout hit; it was reissued in 2017 and went on to chart in the United States. Other output from this period included the song "Willy Wonka Was a Child Murderer" and, in May 2017, his album Revenge, a collection of previously released mixtape material.
Beyond music, Onfroy cultivated a large online presence. He created a gaming YouTube channel that amassed millions of subscribers, expanding his audience beyond traditional music platforms.
Personal life and controversies
Onfroy's personal life featured publicized legal troubles and allegations of violent behavior. In 2016 he was arrested several times on a range of charges that included robbery, aggravated battery, and violations of pre-trial agreements. His relationship with Geneva Ayala, which the excerpt dates from 2014 to 2016, involved allegations of physical assault that were made public in a deposition.
He identified with Christianity and listed rap and R&B among his musical preferences. Onfroy cited artists such as Tupac Shakur and Papa Roach as favorites. Physically, he was about 168 cm (5'6") tall, weighed roughly 55 kg (120 lbs), and had dark brown eyes and hair described as half black, half blonde. He had several tattoos and maintained a distinct personal style.
Public profile
Onfroy performed under multiple nicknames including X, XXX, Triple X, Young Dagger Dick, and Xiller. His music mixed aggressive and emotional elements, which resonated with a generation of listeners on streaming platforms and social media. He also gained attention for public disputes, including a widely reported disagreement with Drake in early 2017 over perceived similarities between flows on their respective tracks.
He collected high-end cars and, according to the information provided, owned models such as a BMW i8, a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, a Rolls-Royce Ghost, and a Camaro. His lifestyle and creative output made him a polarizing but influential figure in late-2010s rap.
Death
On June 18, 2018, Jahseh Onfroy was shot and killed in Broward County, Florida, while leaving a motorsports store in Deerfield Beach. He was 20 years old at the time of his death. The attack was reported as an apparent robbery involving two assailants in a dark-colored SUV.
Legacy and influence
Despite a brief career, Onfroy left a notable mark on the SoundCloud-era hip-hop scene. His early releases and collaborations with members of Members Only helped define a raw, emotionally direct style that influenced peers and later artists. His music continued to be discussed and listened to after his death, and his online platforms retained sizable followings.
