Zeeshan Siddique Biography
Zeeshan Baba Siddique is an Indian politician from Bandra, Mumbai. He served as the MLA for Vandre East, led the Mumbai Youth Congress, and later joined NC
Early life and backgroundZeeshan Baba Siddique was born on 3 October 1992 in Bandra, Mumbai. Raised in a family active in public life, he is the son of the late Baba Ziauddin Siddique and Shehzeen Siddique and grew up alongside his sister Arshia Siddique. He studied in Mumbai and completed a Bachelor of Management Studies in 2013 before pursuing a Master of Global Management and Public Leadership, which he obtained in 2015.
Career
Zeeshan entered electoral politics as a member of the Indian National Congress and contested the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections in 2019. He won the Vandre East seat that year, receiving 38,337 votes and defeating his Shiv Sena rival by a margin of 5,790 votes. That victory made him one of the youngest MLAs in the state at the time.
Alongside his legislative duties, Zeeshan held party organizational responsibilities. In August 2021 he was elected President of the Mumbai Youth Congress, a post that placed him in a visible role within the city’s party unit.
In August 2024 the Indian National Congress expelled him on disciplinary grounds. A short time later, on 25 October 2024, Zeeshan joined the Nationalist Congress Party with the stated intention of contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections again from the Vandre (East) constituency.
Public profile
During his political career Zeeshan has been involved in several public debates and controversies. In 2011, while a college student, he organized and financed large-scale events at his institute’s fest, which attracted public attention. As an MLA he raised local issues about housing and development; for example, he publicly opposed a government decision to construct houses for rural-origin MLAs in Mumbai, arguing the funds would be better spent addressing housing needs within his constituency.
He has also used social media and party channels to call for scrutiny of local infrastructure and civic projects in Bandra East, alleging corruption and calling for investigations into work carried out by municipal and regional authorities.
Legal and public-interest matters involving vaccine distribution in 2021 drew judicial attention when the Bombay High Court asked the state government to examine vaccine supplies that involved several public figures. State officials reported that some vaccine purchases were linked to a charitable trust that lacked authorization to supply them; the matter led to further inquiry and a criminal case against the trust and its trustees.
Within party dynamics, Zeeshan has at times taken an assertive stance toward senior colleagues. In 2021 he wrote to senior national leadership describing an episode in which he said he was excluded from a delegation and was spoken to harshly by a local party chief.
Personal details
Zeeshan is unmarried. He follows Islam and lists Bandra, Mumbai, as his hometown. Physically, his height is reported as approximately 175 cm (5'9"). He studied at Shrimati Mithibai Motiram Kundnani College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and also attended Regent’s University London for postgraduate study.
