Deepak Thakur was born on 24 March 1994 in Athar Village in the Buxar district of Bihar. He grew up in a middle-class agricultural family and later moved with his family to Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He attended Pristine Children's High School and Oxford Public School in Muzaffarpur before enrolling at Lalit Narayan Mishra College of Business Management, where he studied for a Bachelor of Business Administration. He also began, but did not complete, a Master of Business Administration program. From a young age he showed an interest in music and began learning to sing early in life.

Career

Thakur’s musical beginnings were grounded in local performances; he sang at weddings, jagrans and small ceremonies in and around Muzaffarpur. His talent attracted the attention of music director Sneha Khanwalkar, who offered him a playback opportunity in the film Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 (2012). His Bollywood debut song was "Humni Ke Chhodi Ke" in that film, and he later recorded tracks such as "Moora-Morning" for Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2 (2012) and "Adhura Main" for Mukkabaaz (2018).
