Raaj Shaandilyaa was born on 16 September 1985 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a family that encouraged education, he completed schooling at Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa Inter College in Jhansi and went on to earn an engineering degree from the NRI Group of Institutions in Bhopal. He spent his teenage years writing short plays and songs, and while studying he took on small jobs — including selling recipe books — before moving into writing for television and film.

Career

Shaandilyaa's professional writing career began in television. After moving to Mumbai in 2006–2007, he found early opportunities on comedy shows and contributed his first script to Comedy Circus. Between 2007 and 2013 he wrote prolifically for comedians and comedy programs, creating material for performers such as Krushna Abhishek, Sudesh Lehri, Kapil Sharma and others.
