His parents are Dharam Singh Charak and Leela Devi. He is from a family that moved to Roop Nagar from Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Career

Charak is a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium-fast bowler whose primary role is as a pace bowler. Standing about 1.85 m (6'1") with dark brown eyes and black hair, he developed as a fast bowler and has been recorded bowling at around 141 kph, a facet of his game he regards as a major strength.

He progressed through age-group cricket and featured in Under-19 domestic competitions before breaking into senior domestic cricket. Charak made his Twenty20 debut for Hyderabad on 12 November 2019 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he claimed the wicket of Manan Vohra to open his T20 account. Prior to being bought, he had joined Mumbai Indians as a net bowler during their season in the UAE, where his bowling drew attention from the coaching staff.
