Early life and background
Aas Muhammad Turaz grew up in a household where Urdu was the spoken language, in Sambaleheda village, Miranpur, Muzaffarpur, in Uttar Pradesh. His father, Waheed Ahmed, worked as a farmer; his mother's name is not listed in public records. Turaz is the eldest of his siblings. He developed a love of writing in his teenage years and pursued that interest by moving to Mumbai at nineteen to try to build a career in the entertainment industry.

Turaz’s professional credits span poetry, songwriting, scriptwriting, dialogue and story writing, and directing. He secured an early writing opportunity in 2003 for television and contributed to shows including Lady Inspector Renuka and Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka. His first credited film work as a lyricist appeared in 2006 with Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana, and he continued to write songs, stories and dialogues for many films and projects.
